From Paris to Honfleur, there’s a cruise for everyone

Discover the Seine River throughout time, including art and history

CroisiEurope launched its first Seine cruises almost 20 years ago. They were an immediate success with passengers throughout the world. On board one of our three comfortable 4- and 5-anchor ships, the MS Renoir, MS Botticelli and MS Seine Princess, they can discover the very best of French heritage, art and architecture.

Paris, Rouen and Honfleur are some of the most important stop-overs for more than ten 4- to 8- day river cruise itineraries, depending on the chosen theme, each one of the subtle variations taking you to little gems along the lush bends of one of the most wonderful rivers in France.

Paris Forever

Night and day, the French capital city bursts with incredible buildings, Montmartre, the Champs Elysées, the Seine River Banks, without forgetting the famous bridges. The Versailles Palace, where the French kings Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI once resided, is the most emblematic historic monument and masterpiece by the architects Le Vau and Mansart and the gardener Lenôtre. Its significance and affluence mean that visitors are required to book before their European vacations

Rouen, the capital of Normandy, bears the memories of the King Richard the Lionheart, Duke of Normandy, and the suffering of Joan of Arc, who fought against the English before being burnt alive in 1431. The Rouen Cathedral, the medieval quarter, and the wonderful tour of Norman Abbeys will let you explore some of the most essential gems of Roman artefacts in Normandy, representing history dating back ten centuries.

Honfleur and the Côte Fleurie, or Flowery Coast, a roughly 25-mile stretch of beautiful coastline, Deauville and its wonderful villas, the Côte d'Albâtre (literally the Alabaster Coast) combine the chic and charm of France's most famous beach. It is also possible to pay a visit to the D-Day landing beaches for 7- and 8-day cruises, to remember the historic day of the 6th June 1944. It is recommended for passengers to book in advance for this excursion.

Full on Impressionist art!

Following the Seine’s course from or to Paris is also a fantastic way to travel to the heart of the birthplace of Impressionism in Honfleur: the Saint-Siméon estate, where the great XIX and XX century painters and artists met to discuss their ideas.

A 7-day cruise entirely dedicated to the History of Art and painting, including tours of prestigious sites, is ideal to pay tribute to some of the greatest artists:

  • The Marmottan Monet museum in Paris comprises a large collection of Claude Monet paintings and has hosted a unique exhibition of one of the Impressionist movement founding father’s friends, Camille Pissarro.

  • The Fondation Claude Monet in Giverny welcomes visitors to Claude Monet’s house and garden, where he lived for many years. The original decoration and layout of the site were preserved for an immersion into Monet’s life and inspiration.

  • The musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen encompasses a wide range of Impressionist paintings, from Monet, to Sisley, Caillebotte, Pissarro and Renoir.

  • The Eugène Boudin Museum in Honfleur pays tribute to the first painter to work on his art outdoors, away from his workshop.

The Impressionist cruise tells the story of the artistic movement from beginning to end, including a conference to explain its origins, meaning, context and techniques, revolutionizing painting forever after.

For those longing to discover Paris, the city of love, why not go on the 4-day Paris cruise, letting you explore the sites that characterize the French capital and its “Je ne sais quoi”!
